  2.                      FT-411 MODIFICATION

  5. I have this hand held, and by playing with it, I discovered a nice trick to
  6. increase its frequency coverage. It is so simple that you don't even have to
  7. open your hand held.
  8. All you have to do is:
  9.  
  10. 1. Make sure that the power switch is off.
  11. 2. press the UP arrow and DOWN arrows together, at the same time. (those keys
  12.    are also called A, and B.)  They are located at the upper right side of
  13.    the keypad)
  14. 3. Keep both buttons pressed while turning the power on.
  15.  
  16. Now you can receive 130-174Mhz, and transmit 140-150Mhz
  17.  
  18. CAUTION: When you do this modification the memories can be erased.

  23.                 FT 411 OUT OF BAND MODIFICATIONS.
  24.                 ---------------------------------

  26. 1) Open the front cover.
  27. 2) Locate the C.P.U. unit (it is located on the front cover).
  28. 3) Locate Jumpers 1, 2, 3 and 4 , These are the band setting jumpers.
  29. 4) Jumpers No. 1, 2 and 4 should be disconnected,and jumper No. 3 should be
  30.    connected.
  31. 5) Close the radio.
  32. 6) Apply power to the radio and turn it on.  The display will initialize with
  33.    memory No. 1 flashing and the frequency display will show 1.000.
  34. 7) Now, adjust the display to the desired lowest receive frequency. When
  35.    done, press VFO. The memory CH will now show 2 flashing.
  36. 8) Adjust the display to the desired highest receive frequency. When done,
  37.    press VFO. The memory CH will now show 3 flashing.
  38. 9) Adjust the display to the desired lowest transmit frequency. When done,
  39.    press VFO. The memory CH will now show 4 flashing.
  40. 10) Adjust the display to the desired highest transmit frequency. When done,
  41.     press VFO.

  43. The rig is now set for your programmed band on transmit and receive.

  48. 1) If after programming the rig as above, you wish to change it to other
  49.    ranges you will have to open the rig again and disconnect jumper No. 3.
  50.    Then apply power to the radio and turn it on and off. Open it again,
  51.    connect jumper No. 3 and continue from step 5.
